Red light therapy
A panel of red and near-infrared light is aimed at a sore area for a few minutes.
What it is
Red light therapy uses a device that gives off red and near-infrared light at low power. It is not a laser and does not burn or tan the skin.
At this clinic it is usually added to a visit for muscles and joints, alongside adjustments or acupuncture.
Who it may help
- People with sore muscles or stiff joints
- People who want a gentle, no-contact add-on to their visit
Every patient is different. Dr. Hua will tell you after the exam whether this is a good fit for you.
What a session is like
You sit or lie near the light with the area uncovered. Eye protection is provided.
The light runs for about 10 minutes. Most people feel mild warmth or nothing at all.
Questions patients ask
- Is red light therapy safe?
- It is low power and does not use ultraviolet light. Eye protection is used, and it is avoided over certain areas and conditions. Tell us about any light sensitivity or medications that affect it.
- Is it covered by insurance?
- Often it is not. Call us and we will tell you the cost before your visit.
- How often is it done?
- That depends on your visit plan. It is usually added to regular appointments rather than booked on its own.
